So...several weeks of pondering details. Now to get down to it! Oops, one more detail!

How to mount these temporarily so I could paint to the edges? Thanks, Alan Flattmann! I learned this from him in a one day workshop at IAPS in Albuquerque, NM in 2011. Pretty ingenious, if you ask me!

Also, blips will occur when you are creasing and tearing watercolor paper...they add to the organic feel of the finished piece...so don't get anal!

Step One

Place masking tape on back side, with only 1/8" or so extending to backing board.

Step Two-Four

Repeat for remaining sides

Step Five

Gently pull paper and tape from the backing

Step Six

Turn over...you are now looking at the front side

Step Seven-Ten:

Place another strip of tape over the 1/8" sticky from previous sides, Using your fingernail, make sure the 'tapes' stick good together. Don't overly press down on the tape extending to the outside

Step Eleven:

Carefully lift from backing board

Step Twelve:

I have a sanded piece of 5/8" plywood that will hold six at a time. Place your taped paper to the board, and plan for the tape not to overlap the next piece of paper. Align for neatness :)
